" In June 2008 my fiance Zeljka and I, with 6 of our friends (3 couples) stayed in Anagnostis house for one week. Two weeks would have been better, as there are many things to see in western Crete. As only great, old houses can be, it seems as part of surroundings nature. From the road it can hardly be seen, giving the great sense of privacy and tranquility. Sents of nature are beautiful, so far me one of the most memorable things was me driving alone to the bakery in a near village while everybody were sleeping. that few minutes drives on curvy road trough olive tree's fields with open window and radion paying mellow greek morning tunes I still reminisce.
The car is essential not for the village but for other site's in Western Crete worth visiting. The village is nice, but the greatest thing in it is George's taverna in the centre. It's a place to have a drink, chill out in the shade and of course to eat.
The food is great, excellent, cheap-usual meal with local wine costs around 10.- Euro per person and even if you pay more for a few dishes, it's great value for money.
The owners of the house, Esther and Dimitrios are warm, nice people, always on hand (actualy living near Chania). as we come from touristic country we can say thet they are not usual renters. The house has emotional value for them. They are educated people who speak English excelent. For us they did fantastic things - arrange traditional wedding in a local orthodox church in a few days time. It was something special.
Trying not to be patetic, we did holiday of our life."
